Lola

When we were little I would follow you around.
You would never get mad at me, you'd never make a sound.
I loved your converse sneekers and all of your clothes.
I liked your friends and all of your favourite shows.
I would watch when you weren't looking
I'd listen to everything you had to say.
You were a permanent fixture in my life
Until that sad summer day.
Mom and dad don't love eachother anymore, it's sad but that's now our life.
You left with mom, you two left, you went and didn't stay.
You didn't travel very far, but at 10 years old you felt miles away.
You grew up and made new friends.
Time spent, just the two of us, a rarity.
Before I know it I'm older too, I grew up and moved away.
Now I stand here looking at my feet, I wonder how this all came to be.
You're my friend, my keeper of secrets, my protector.
I cannot help but feeling that I've come out a victor.
