"I just received the news that you are gone. I didn't know how I was going to react. Yesterday I spoke about you for quite a while; all I wanted was to hear your voice and what you were thinking. I knew that, knowing you, you would not be sad but you would be thankful for having already lived a life full of so many grand experiences and even more amazing friends. I didn't want to write you a message on Facebook, I thought that you deserved more of an extension of my friendship and support. I decided last night that I was going to call you today.

You are such an amazing person. I will always remember the friendship you shared with me, the smile you always put on my face. I remember the first time I met you, I had no idea what you said because I couldn't understand you through your accent. I am so happy that I was able to share my first year of university with you. Every day when I'd walk past your dorm room door I'd hope it would crack open, with your face soon to follow greeting me with a friendly hello and inquiry about my day.
I will never forget the kindness that you showed to me. I will always remember and be thankful for the many warm welcomes that you extended to me to come and visit you in your home in Ireland. I had been making plans to do this next year, after I graduated. Now, I will still go and visit your country. I will remember you for everything that you were and I will never forget the Irish dorm mate that made me laugh and blush with every kind word that he spoke."

It is still hard to accept that you are gone, to not be angry that you had to leave so soon, but whenever there is mention of your name or a memory of you crosses my mind, I cannot help but smile, from the joy of having met you, and shed a tear from the heartbreak of your passing.
forever & always,
