Thursday

jump.

Standing there. Feeling a rush, a surge move its way through your entire body. You feel electric, nothing can be more powerful. Your mind is engaging with multiple points of interest, each act as a distraction from the reality that you're not alone and this overwhelming feeling will subside with time. The wind blows into your face, piercing your skin with its bite. Your hair whips around, tangling with the motion that is being coerced by the elements. Your body finds warmth under the protection of layers and a clear mind.
You lean forward and relax, breathing out and allowing your body to fall forward, stepping off that ledge and letting go. As you fall, you feel a sense of weightlessness; freedom.
You instinctively inhale, but without alarm, slowly. You taste the smell of the frozen air and, as you continue to inhale, you close your eyes. You feel consumed by the warmth in your soul and the peace that is in your mind.
With a crunch your legs break through the crust; you emerge into the fresh power, falling back into the secure imprint that your body left when landing. You rest your head back onto your jacket hood and a mound of snow, staring up into the sun. You close your eyes and focus on the orange, yellow, and red accents that gleam on the backs of your eyelids, feeling the warmth and picturing a paradise in which you can be lost forever.
