Wednesday

only human.

We each face personal struggles at times within our lives that we must fight back against in order to overcome. We must fight that wrenching feeling that we feel within ourselves. Circumstances can leave us feeling empty at times and defeated at other times; these are moments in our lives that make us question our faith, leaving us to question all that surrounds us; all that is and all that was.
At times, we can find ourselves gasping for breath as a result of the weight that builds within us; we feel it growing and bringing us down. Acknowledging this weight is a step forward, consciously putting forth the effort to overcome and remove this access weight will allow us to lighten this burden and eventually free ourselves of this weight.
Over time, without relief, we can begin to lose ourselves, we begin to feel numb of emotion, losing the ability to replenish ourselves and freshen our minds and our souls. Although we are aware of the hurt that sits deep within us, the heartbreak and the mourning, it can be difficult to face it; we mustn't suffer through this alone. It is in each of us to push forth and heal.
Surely time has the potential to be a remedy; however, we first have to be willing to heal. First we must posses the want to heal in order to allow ourselves to go through the motions; it is necessary to allow ourselves to feel; to accept the emotions and let ourselves hurt, to feel the pain and the sorrow, to cry the tears that hide behind our somber eyes, giving attention and acknowledgement to the true wrenching that sits deep within.
It is only the strength that we allow ourselves to have that will allow us to overcome the struggles and challenges that life deals us. Acceptance can be misinterpreted as a sense of defeat; however, acceptance is a gift that we must allow ourselves to embrace in order to allow our minds and souls to gain strength and heal. Moving forward does not necessarily consist of what it implies, moving forward does not mean leaving something else behind, but allowing for personal growth and healing.
Moving forward can be easily feared for the fear of forgetting, of losing touch and letting go of something or someone that we forever want to hold onto. Accepting the reality that surrounds us and the changes that we undergo can be difficult; unfortunately this a reality of life. It is okay to hurt, to feel deep emotion. Feelings should not leave us feeling ashamed, for we can not control the way that we feel, but we do have the ability to overcome, move forward, and heal. It is the hurt that we feel and the emotion that sits with us that reminds us that we are human.
